Use the ENVI Job Console to monitor the status of ENVI Server jobs and view the results of completed jobs.

Open the ENVI Job Console with one of the following:

  • From the ENVI menu bar, select Server > Job Console.
  • From the ENVI Modeler menu bar, select Server > Job Console.

Job Console Tabs


Click on a tab to view information for your jobs. The tabs will be one of the following:

  • Background Jobs: Jobs submitted to your computer using the Run Task in the Background option.
  • ENVI Server Jobs: Jobs submitted to local and remote ENVI Servers, with one tab per server. The tab name displays either the server URL ("http://localhost:9191"), or the Name given to the ENVI Server when it was added ("Network Server 1").

To change the number of records displayed in the dashboard, select an option from the Page size drop-down list.

The job information displays in sortable columns; click on a column heading to sort the data as follows:

  • Job ID: The job number.
  • Name: The task that was run.
  • Duration: The time to process the task.
  • Progress: The date and time when the process was started.
  • Status: The status of the process.

To delete all completed and canceled jobs from a tab, click the trash can button to the right of the column headings.

On any ENVI Server tab, you can filter the jobs by using the Search field, by clicking on one of these status filter buttons, or both:

  • Queued
  • Executing
  • Completed
  • Canceled
  • Error

On any ENVI Server tab, the following options are available to the right of each job:

  • To view details on the task and parameter settings used for the job, click the Info button . The details open in a separate window. You can copy the details to the clipboard using the Copy button.
  • To open the processed dataset in the ENVI view, click the Display result button .
  • To rerun the task, click the Rerun task button.
  • To delete the job, click the red Delete job button .

On the Background Jobs tab, the following options are available to the right of each job:

  • To rerun the task, click the button.
  • Click the folder button to open the Workspace folder for the dataset files.
  • To open the processed dataset in the ENVI view, click the blue Display results link.
  • To cancel a process that is still running, click the red Cancel job link.

You can also view the dashboard for an ENVI Server in a web browser; enter the URL for the server in the browser. In the browser view of the dashboard you can search, sort, view job information and delete a job from the dashboard. You cannot rerun the task, open the result from the browser.

Edit Menu


To view information for an ENVI Server, click on the tab for that server and select Edit > View ENVI Server Info. A dialog displays information, including the name, URL, and software version of the ENVI Server. It also includes version information for the ENVI, IDL, and ENVI module software installed on that server.

To remove a tab from the ENVI Console display, click on the tab to remove, then select Edit > Remove Current Console. The tab will be removed until the next time you use the ENVI Server associated with it to process a task.

Tools Menu


The Tools menu in the ENVI Job Console provides options to connect your computer to a remote ENVI Server and to start an ENVI Server.

Select one of the following from the ENVI Job Console main menu:

  • Tools > Add ENVI Server. Then add the URL of the ENVI Server to register.
  • Tools > Start ENVI Server. Then follow the steps to start a local server.
