You can import data into any profile, the ENVI Plot window, or the Spectral Library Viewer.

ASCII

You can import plot data saved in ASCII format from within any profile window, the ENVI Plot window, or the Spectral Library Viewer. The following shows an example format of an ASCII file that you can import:

ENVI ASCII Plot File [Fri Oct 18 09:23:12 2013]
Column 1: Wavelength
Column 2: qb_boulder_msi (626,696)~~2##255,0,0
Column 3: qb_boulder_msi (769,665)~~22##0,128,0
Column 4: qb_boulder_msi (637,813)~~4##0,0,255
  485.000000 200.000000 196.000000 196.000000
  560.000000 275.000000 262.000000 267.000000
  660.000000 122.000000 111.000000 141.000000
  830.000000 73.000000 62.000000 89.000000

To import an ASCII file:

  1. Select ASCII from the Import drop-down list. The Select Input ASCII File dialog appears.
  2. Select a file, then click Open. The Input ASCII File dialog appears.
  3. The top of the Input ASCII File dialog shows the number of columns and rows that are in the file to import. Enter the column number to use as X Data Column in the plot.
  4. Select the Wavelength to use in the plot from the Select Y Data Columns. By default, all columns are selected.
  5. If known, select the X Data Units from the drop-down list.
  6. The default Y Scale Factor is 1.000000. Change this value if needed.
  7. Click OK. The data displays in the plot window.

Spectral Library

You can import data from a spectral library from within any profile window, the ENVI Plot window, or the Spectral Library Viewer.

To import a spectral library:

  1. Select Spectral Library from the Import drop-down list. The Import from Spectral Library dialog appears.
  2. Select a spectral library, then click OK. A second Import from Spectral Library dialog appears, with a list of spectra included in that library.
  3. Click to select a single spectra. Use Ctrl+click or Shift+click to select multiple spectra. You can also click the Select All button to select the entire list.
  4. Click OK. The data displays in the plot window. If the incoming curve or receiving plot (or both) are missing wavelength units and/or y-scale factor information, the Scale Incoming Curve dialog appears first for you to enter data for the incoming curve, then the data displays in the plot window.
